This is my 6 inch scale AT-ST build. It is also my largest and most complex to date. I designed the model myself, using photos of one of the studio models as a reference. I took care to mimic the mobility and mechanics of the studio model, making allowances for this new manufacturing method.
For the AT-ST, I print the core structural parts using FDM and detail and decoration parts in resin. There are a few F80 elastic resin parts as well as some screws, nuts and various other durable parts. All of the joints use a set-screw to loosen the joint for posing, and then tighten to lock.
Printing the core part of the cabin as a single piece takes 4 and a half days, but it largest part of the project at 13″ by 13″ by 7″. I designed it to have mostly smooth and flat surfaces to make it simple when sanding and finishing, and the details, hatches, weapons, etc. are printed in resin to show off the details. I gave it a removable top and a fully detailed interior. ALSO planned isĀ customizing a couple of Bodhi Rook figures into some AT-ST drivers.
I have printed a good many of the resin parts, but I will be reprinting them using the newer Anycubic ABSLike Pro 2 resin, and I have redesigned a lot of them.
Printers: Anycubic Photon Mono X 6K resin printer, Anycubic M5S 12K resin printer, and Anycubic Kobra Max FDM printer. Slicers: Lychee for FDM and resin, Photon Workshop for F80 elastic resin. Modeling software: Rhinoceros 7. Filament: Polyterra PLA+. Resin: Anycubic ABS-Like, Resione F80 Elastic Black.
