This is a Diorama piece I am building to fit on a book shelf. It is a 6″ scale model of the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. This has been designed to be printed using FDM parts as the basic structure, with details added with resin parts. At the present time I am still in the modeling phase with this project. It is based on how the ship appeared in Empire Strikes Back.
I have created 4 different 3D figures to represent Han, Chewie, Luke and Obi-Wan in the Black Series 6″ line. These were created so I can be sure they will actually fit when it’s done.
I was discussing various vehicle sizes in 6 inch scale with a friend, and we got onto the subject of the Falcon, and about how large a 6″ scale toy would be. 6 inch scale conversion is incredibly easy, just change feet to inches. The Millennium Falcon is about 34.5M, which is 113ft. In 6″ scale, if would be 113 inches long, or about NINE AND A HALF FEET long. Hasbro is unlikely to produce this especially considering the size and cost constraints, so I decided to do the next best thing: design a cockpit diorama.
The Millennium Falcon Cockpit features accurate details within and without, and a removable section to show off the interior. I may set it up for LED and/or Fiber Optic lighting for more “cool” factor.
I am working on other sections of the Falcon interior, so keep an eye on the Dioramas section in the future!
