The Mouse Droid Builder is an ongoing project. I initially designed a printable mouse droid 3D model a few years ago, then I started changing things, adding different wheel styles and such, and I turned the mouse droid into a small model kit of sorts which had 2 different wheels and 4 different sets of side panels. This was neat and I was pleased with it, but what I really wanted to do was produce unique mouse droids via a growing selection of custom parts and customizable side panels. This is the result of that work.
The builder currently offers a 3D view of an MSE-6 Mouse Droid with a selection of 3 different wheel types, 3 different top attachments, and a side-panel customizer.
Currently, all the customizable parts are my own creation, but they are “in-universe” so to speak, but that will change. I am planning on adding things like muddin’ tires, fog lights, longhorns and rally spoilers. Even the possibility of creating side panels with custom vector emblems/logos on them.
The end goal is to spit out an STL file for the customized input so you can print it yourself, and offering printing services if you don’t have your own printer. The customization part works, but saving the STL is still in development. It currently only saves a PNG image.
The prints in the gallery below are prototypes, and don’t necessarily represent the current output from this tool.
