Narkina 5 Work Table

What

Late last year, I started working on a couple of things from Andor, Specifically the Narkina 5 Prison Complex. The Narkina 5 Prison was just one of the facilities where prisoners were used as labor to assemble parts for the Death Star. In this case, they were assembling the EP-N5 Fastener Assembly.

This project is the work table where they built the EP-N5 Fastener Assembly. The model includes the work table itself, the hanging gantry and all the tools.

Why

I love the Andor show. It is some of the best Star Wars in a while, and although I love the whole Jedi/Sith thing, this a nice change of pace. This showed exactly how evil the Empire was, and what was going on behind the scenes that normal citizens didn’t see. I started modeling the Cell Block, and got about 80% done with that when I decided I wanted to model the Work Table as well because it just looked cool.

Process

After reviewing the prison scenes many times, I decided it would be most efficient to model the EP-N5 Fastener FIRST, and then use that as a basis to model the work table. The fastener parts actually come OUT of the table, so having those modeled first allowed me to model the table specifically to fit them, and that helped me keep everything in proportion and properly sized.

Interaction

This model is designed to work with my EP-N5 Fastener Assembly model (Both in parts and as a whole), my EP-N5 Transport Cart, as well as the excellent One Way Out conversion kit over at Landspeeder Luke.
